Yellow Rattle (2024 HARVEST)
Yellow Rattle (2024 HARVEST)
UK PROVENANCE 2024 YELLOW RATTLE. Freshly harvested, cleaned and dried at our yard in Heathfield, East Sussex.
Yellow Rattle (Rhinanthus minor) is a semi-parasitic grassland plant that weakens grasses (especially lawn grasses) and is the key to growing a successful mixed wildflower and grass meadow.
Perfect for establishing new wildflower meadows, the yellow tube-like flowers appear May to September. When the flowers fade, the tiny seeds ripen in their brown pods and a distinctive ‘rattle’ can be heard when walking through a wildflower meadow, hence the name.
Sow your Yellow Rattle in the autumn for the best results. The seeds need a prolonged cold winter in order to trigger germination the following spring.
